Planning Permission for an Indoor Snowdome, The Snowcentre, Hemel Hempstead

DLA Town Planning Ltd were pleased to be instrumental in securing planning permission for an indoor snowdome, to replace the existing outdoor dry ski slope at St Albans Hill, Hemel Hempstead.

Located on a site of 2.5 hectares, the building will be 10,300sqm in size.  It will incorporate one of the largest, if not the largest, ‘green’ roof in the UK, covering the entire building. Construction is due to complete in April 2009.

Located on a prominent, sensitive site, abutting a residential area and within a designated ‘open land’ area, the development posed many planning challenges which were successfully resolved and the approved scheme received support from both local residents and the officers and Members of the planning committee.
